Starbucks .V.S. Music Revolution

As most of my Instagram followers would know I am a full time Starbucks lover and I promise I don’t even get paid for anything, I just really do love it. From their delicious frappuccinos, coffee, logo and of course design aesthetic and ambience. What in the world is there not to love about it besides the expensive amount of money you’re getting in a cup of coffee? ūüėČ

Anyways, unless you live under a rock and you’ve never been inside of any Starbuck’s well let me tell you that they also sell breakfast, packaged snacks, lunches, and music… not to mention your’e missing out on some really good frapps.

I love that they give you a FREE download card for Itunes with the “Pick Of The Week” with the artist they are promoting at that time. They also sell EP’s or CD’s however you want to call them, and being Starbucks yes sometimes they are a little bit overpriced but I still got a copy of the fabulous Ingrid Michaelson’s “LIGHTS OUT” album. I also enjoyed the fact that it was a coffee shop that still represented the more music lover inspired open minded people who would say im gonna by a record and still feel like a physical experience.

Fun Fact: Did you know that the first CD the store offered was back in 1994, by Kenny G?

Well, as much as I love technology and I love the fact that you can download things straight to your laptop and have a library that can hold thousands of songs on your IPod, I still am very much old school too. I love being able to buy actual vinyl records, casette’s, and cd’s. Just like I still hold on to VHS movies and home made videos even if you can’t tell almost what the image is. Okay maybe I am taking a little too literal right there, but the point is that I really love the experience of being able to have physical copies in my hand of the music that I love listening to.

vinyls

Why get rid of the CDs? Well apparently Starbuck’s is trying to “evolve” its music offerings.¬† Though they say that they will stay in the music business digitally, I feel like it won’t be the same experience as it used to be. For some of you just walk in straight for your coffee but for other people like me, we would check out what they had new in stock while we got our order and sit down as we enjoyed our frapp. The music was always an added value when in came to Starbucks as when it first originally started their “discovering” artists for their customers to listen to.¬† I understand that with how fast technology is constantly changing companies and society will always want the latest and best trends as part of growing and evolving.¬† But sometimes by changing one thing you are really limiting the next generation to come of enjoying some of the greatest life experiences from the past.

By the way did you know that you can now get the “ARIANA GRANDE” Starbuck’s Frapp.¬† Thanks to the lovely Loryn Brantz at Buzzfeed for the recipe and idea. I really have to go try this frapp while I listen to “One Last Time” on my car.

How to order:

  • Start with a Vanilla Bean Frappuccino w/ Raspberry Syrup (aka the Cotton Candy Frappuccino)
  • Add extra mocha syrup
  • Add extra mocha chips
  • Blend
  • Top with extra whipped cream
  • Finish with a generous caramel drizzle

Oscars 2015 – My Favorite Moments

Neil Patrick Harris hosted the Oscars 2015 and it the opening number couldn’t have been better! A night dedicated to films, cast, crew, artistry, design, music, and more. A night full of emotion, excitement, passion, and dedication from the best in the industry.¬† My favorite moments from this year’s show is in no particular order.

intro

When first-time nominee Graham Moore won the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay for his work on the film “The Imitation Game”, he took to the stage and not only did he opened up to a very dark time of his past when he wanted to committ suicide but he also pledge for those who are still looking for their place in this world. He knew how to use to this huge platform and his moment to touch base on such important topics like suicide, depression, and acceptance.

Eddie Redmayne’s win for Best Actor for his work on the film “The Theory of Everything”.¬†Now that is what I call a well deserved and best reaction winning moment. His dedication in order to prepare himself for this movie was months of studying, training, and learning about ALS, from what the caregiver, patient, and medical perspectives.¬† He contacted Queen Square Centre for Neuromuscular Diseases in London where a constultant took him through the various diagnoses and stages of this disease.¬† *ALS is Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis often known as “Lou Gehrig’s Disease,” is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord.

The reactions of Meryl Streep and Jennifer Lopez to Patricia Arquette’s speech when she accepted her Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress in Boyhood, and made a political statement and demanded gender equality. She said: ‚ÄúTo every woman who gave birth to every taxpayer and citizen of this nation, we have fought for everybody else‚Äôs equal rights. It‚Äôs our time to have wage equality once and for all and equal rights for women in the United States of America.‚ÄĚ

anigif_enhanced-buzz-27173-1424714393-27When Lady Gaga paid tribute to Sounds Of Music star Julie Andrews. Her performance definitely showcase Gaga’s ability to sing, perform, and put on a great show just like I have always defended her from the start. Her talent is in impeccable. She was sought crying afterwards backstage after her moving performance.

gagaA beautiful and moving performance by John Legend and Common who performed the Oscar Winning song “Glory” from the film “Selma”. The scenery for their performance was a backdrop of Alabama‚Äôs Edmund Pettus Bridge, where hundreds walked across for their right to vote back in 1965. It brought tears to everyone’s eyes including Chris Pine.

And last but not least Tim McGraw’s performance paying homage to one of the greatest country singers and songwriters Glen Campbell and his family. Glen Campbell wrote this song for his family as soon as he diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease. A disease I know too well since I lost two of my grandparents to it. I guess this is why I was more moved by this performance because they lyrics hit straight to my heart. I tried not to cry as I heard the lyrics last night specially when they showed Glen’s family at the end of the performance. His family handpicked Mcgraw to sing this song from the “Glen Campbell: I‚Äôll Be Me” documentary which follows the farewell tour of Campbell, after his Alzheimer‚Äôs diagnosis.

635601366394958759-464046996And also on that note Julianne Moore’s win for Best Actress for her role in “Still Alice” which she suffers from Alzheimer’s Disease in the movie.

Ariana Grande in Apocalyptic War Over “OLT” Video.

Music is bound to repeat itself just like fads in the fashion industry. Everything comes and go and originality is never truly original its always inspired by a motif. But that’s not exactly the thought on everyone’s mind.

Canberra indie band SAFIA had accused Ariana Grande’s Team of copying their video.¬†On Monday, the band took to their social media SAFIA¬† Facebook Page and wrote:

BAND-PROFILE-SAFIA

SAFIA’s music video for “You Are The One” released on September of 2014 opens with a static introduction and opening credits with a young woman getting out of a car who seems distressed and running down a street full of people in an what resembles an apocalyptic scene¬† under a purple meteor shower.¬† The video also closes with the woman kissing a man while meteor showers surrounds them ultimately causing an explosion around them and end of scene.

arianasafira Ariana Grande 11

Ariana Grande’s¬† music video for “One Last Time” which was released just a day ago follows almost the same script with the only difference they added more obstacles¬† while she runs through the crowd and it almost looked like a quarantine in the midst of the end of the world. She also has a purple tone like effect on the sky and she also kisses her boyfriend at the end of the video with an explosion around them at the end of the video.

And of course this was not an easy pill for Arianators to read as they responded immediately all over social media defending Ariana Grande’s music video with angry backlash. But SAFIA fans supported the group by also leaving comments on their wall and screenshots of why they were so upset with Grande’s video.

Max Landis, who is the director behind “One Last Time” took to Twitter to defend his work from the masses:

But both of these music videos are very close to the same¬†apocalyptic ideal for another band whose music video looks very similar. So in the end who is copying who?¬† I’ll leave all three videos here and let you decide. Feel free to leave comments down below and let me know your thoughts.

Last and not least SAFIA wanted to make sure they cleared the air out with everyone with these final words.
